We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Harumi & Kamacho from Miami, Florida, to New Mexico as our guest teachers. They’ll be teaching an exciting lineup of Brazilian Zouk classes and workshops in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

NM ZOUK Academy is a collaboration between internationally renowned Brazilian Zouk artists Harumi and Kamacho and local teachers/organizers Benjamin Davis and Heather Kryzak. Heather and Ben have been organizing and teaching in New Mexico for just under 3 years and currently help with the administration of NMZA as well as teach the ZERO to Zouk class in ABQ and Santa Fe.

Harumi and Kamacho are internationally recognized Brazilian Zouk artists whose partnership blends classical technique, musicality, and bold creative expression. With roots in ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, and years of competitive training, they bring a rare mix of precision, poetry, and play to the dance floor. Together, they teach, perform, and inspire dancers around the world through their distinctive style and deep love of movement.

SOCIALS & LABORATORIES

Every month we have both evening socials with a pre-social class or a social in the daytime with pre-social laboratory.

EVENING SOCIAL CLASSES will be focusing on patterns and will be all-levels but a little more challenging:

DAYTIME LABORATORIES will be focusing on the less tangible, softer, more kinesthetic and magical parts of not only Brazilian Zouk but also partner dance in general. We will be focusing on musicality, connection, improvisation, quality of movement etc. The will be ALL LEVELS and very accessible.

  • No problem! Come to the free class in Albuquerque on September 7th or Santa Fe on September 8th and try it out.

    The ZERO to Zouk class is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to hone their zouk basics. We will have you zouking in no time!

  • No, a partner is not required. We will be doing rotations throughout the class.

    If you come with a partner and prefer not to rotate, you’re welcome to stay with the same partner throughout the class.
